From Our Residents and Families

At Kindred Healthcare, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. For more letters received by this center, contact the admissions director.

Hazel

Hazel came to us after a hospital stay with Renal Failure. She was weak and had low endurance when she was admitted. Hazel was highly motivated from the start and was a great humored resident that we loved to have in the gym. Initially, she required moderate to minimal assistance with her routines. At discharge she was independent with the use of a rolling walker as needed. Her functional mobility on the evaluation was also moderate to minimal assist. When Hazel was discharged she was also able to get around the facility as she wanted without any help. We are so proud to have graduated Hazel successfully from the rehabilitation program at Maryville Health and Rehab Center. Congratulations Hazel.

Fred

Fred came to us after an exacerbation of his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and severe deficits with his respiratory status. He required oxygen and became short of breath with ANY activity. Fred’s rehab was a slow gradual build in his abilities, but he made amazing progress and was able to return home. He increased his endurance and was able to walk more than 100 feet. Fred was also able to tolerate periods of time with out any oxygen, which allowed him freedom of movement at the facility. Fred was a joy to work with and we are so proud of his hard work and recovery.

Bobbie

Bobbie was referred to our Rehab department with severely decreased mobility and problems with daily living skills. Pains in her lower left leg meant she was unable to walk and could barely stand. She received Physical Therapy to manage the pain and help strengthen her leg so that she could put weight on it. With skilled Occupational and Physical Therapy services she was able to improve the range of motion on her leg and walk with supervision. Bobbie went from needing a maximum level of assistance with activities of daily living to being able to perform ADLs with the use of adaptive equipment. She made such great strides that she is truly a huge success in our eyes.

Mitzi

I have a rare autoimmune disorder that affects my muscles. When I arrived at Maryville Health and Rehab Center, I could not move my arms and legs, or even keep my head up. Everyone in physical and occupational therapy encouraged me to keep working and never let me give up. It took a lot of hard work, but within a month, I was able to walk out and go home! Keep up the good work in PT/ST and OT! I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication.
